I forgot to review this book a while ago so I'm going to review it!

First of all, this book is underrated, and I also really love the simple, sleek, artstyle. The writing is spot on, I honestly didn't expect the book to be so good, and especially the lore and the dark theme. Varjak was diffrerent from the other Mesopotamian Blues, he had yellow eyes and was made fun of and misunderstood. But Elder Paw's teaching about the Way for Varjak Paw had caught on was a really important skill for him to learn. Varjak met some cat thugs and fought; I really enjoyed their ventures. The antagonist of the story, the strange Gentleman took Varjak's family with his big bad black cats fought with Varjak Paw was so wicked. And the part where the dog named Cludge that Varjak Paw befriended was unlikely but a huge help for his allies. In the end, Varjak Paw wins a battle against his brother who teased him when they were kittens before. The main character growth-Varjak Paw went from an oridnary cat, to a determined and brave hero-cat thanks to the help of his ancestors. I'm still hooked on this book to read the next one.
